Amil Shah makes glasses not war
January 24th, 2008
We’ve been taking alot recently about quite serious issues - troop deaths, the horrors of heathrow, so I thought it was time for something that was a little lighter! This is the story of Amil Shah. There are two very different Amil Shah’s in the world. One lives in London. He is a law abiding citizen with no criminal record (that we can find!). He has a very stable job working as an optometrist for Specsavers in Ilford, and infact after years of hard work and dedication he is now one of the directors there. He enjoys his life, and he pays his tax’s.
The other Amil Shah leads a very different life! He is out in the battlefield, involved in a war between the taliban, the west, and bin ladens fighters! He is out on the fiel, risking his life for a cause that may or may not be working for. Infact, for all I know he has already been killed, shot down in the field by rebals or the U.N. or even caught by a stray granade from his own side. So what, if any, is the connection between these two Amils?
How simple it would be for them to be the other way around. We are all born into circumstance, we are all where we are largely because of events and actions completly out of our control. Yet we have the illusion of control, and we give massive importance and worry to those things that perhaps do not matter as much as the simple act of being alive. We worry, am I too fat, too thin, should I go and have botox injections or not? We are constantly concerned about our appearance and our level of beauty. Similarly, at work we get stressed and worried about what ever it is that we are doing. Is everything ready for that exhibition next week, have I bought the right banner stands
Perhaps I should have hired more help to man the stall, am I even going to make any money back from this whole investment.
We forget that we could so easily be somewhere else, we could be out in the field fighting for our lives against a group of people that just think a little differently to us. So what can we learn from the 2 Amil’s of this world? Perhaps next time we are on the verge of exploding with rage or fear or anger about something, we can put things in prespective a little by remembering where we are not.
