dress up

Cosmetics. What is it about them that makes them so popular. why is it that women are so disappointed with their looks which means they spend millions of pounds on cosmetics covering up their natural look. Why? Why are they all so unhappy. Or are they? Is it more the fact that they are sucked into the stereotype of what society expects them to be. All those glossy (also known as photoshoped) magazines showing unblemished skin and peopel are sucked into thinking that is what they should look like, how they should behave by plastering their face with chemicals and powders just to look beautiful, appealing and sexy.

I really don’t understand why people (because this isn’t just limited to women) get Chemical peels and have cosmetic surgery. Do people really hate their bodies SO much. I think it is all about insecurities. People do not have the guts or ability to just love themselves for who they are. they feel pressure from society to change, morph, into the ‘expected’ and the ‘norm’ of what is acceptable to put on show in public.

Yet it goes much further than that. One woman I work with, who will remain anonymous for obvious reasons, told me the other day that she is unable to even be in her own home, alone, without putting her make up on. she said she feels naked without it. Yet I can not comprehend that. How can you feel naked WITHOUT your make up. Am I the strange one? Am I the one who is weird? I personally think not. I feel like someone else with make up on. And maybe that’s the key, people just want to escape into a different world so they slap on a different face and pretend to be someone else. What a waste I think. What a waste to go through your life living as someone else, not loving yourself and accepting yourself for who you are. I pity those people.
