Pros and Cons of London Life

Every person has a favourite city, a city that speaks to them. I’m not hear to judge one’s merits over the others, but I think it is safe to say there are a handful of cities in the world that are universally considered fabulous and London is one them. Others include, Pairs, Milan, New York, Tokyo and a few others. People want to live in these cities because they’ve got their finger on the pulse and always have. They have the best fashion, art galleries, clubs, restaurants, shopping and theatre. And they’re economic centres, will a huge spectrum of businesses, which means that creative and ambitious people from around the world move to them to run with the big boys, thereby making the cities even cooler.

But every city has its pros and cons. London has some fabulous things to offer but it’s also expensive and the weather isn’t its biggest selling point. Ultimately, each person has to decide what they live with and without.

1. Pro: Location
Unlike some of the other great cities I mentioned, London is smack-bam in the centre of Europe. Europe is a small continent with some of the most fabulous places to visit. What that means is that Londoners are able to travel to other countries for a weekend, and it doesn’t have to cost much either.
Con: Weather
I know, it’s so boring, everyone complains about London weather, but there’s kinda a reason for it. The clouds do occasionally part and when they do and blue sky is visible, there are few places I’d rather be. But for the most part it’s grey and rainy. It gets dark at 3:30p.m. during the winter, and well, it can get a bit dreary.
2. Pro: Culture
Ok, culture is kind of a blanket term, but there is no doubting that London has some of the best of it. From fabulous restaurants, to great shopping, to superb art exhibitions, and outstanding parties, everyone who loves life, loves London!
Con: Cost
Sure London has tons of great stuff to do, but it can cost a fortune to do a lot of it. It’s an expensive city and the job salaries don’t always reflect the cost of living. Most people who move to London come from the work experience and the culture and not so much to save money, so don’t worry if you don’t manage to either.

Depending on what you’re looking for, London may or may not have enough to offer. Either way, it’s worth a visit.
