South America to London Big Smoke!
My name Santiago! I hail from the South America!
OK, I don’t actually speak or write like that, but everyone I meet seems to think that I do. I do not bother wasting my time correcting them. I have too many things to do in this capital of England. There is already too little time left!
Here are a few things I love about London:
1) You meet so many interesting people: on the train the other day I keep smiling at this heavily bearded man who reminded me much of my father. After ten minutes of me staring at him, he stood up and came closer to me. I thought he wanted to shake my hand. “What the hell are you doing looking at me like that?” he said. I said back, “I come from South America and you remind me much of my father,” and smiled. Then, within five minutes we are best of bosom buddies and chatting about all kinds of things.
Could there be a better time to arrive in the UK? I do not think so...
2) Another thing is meeting people when you end up in the wrong place by accident: the other week, I somehow ended up at a teacher training courses institute. I had no idea how I had got there...I think that maybe the people I had asked for directions before had been telling me the porky English pies!
3) The opportunity: I have wanted to become a teacher for a while, and so when I ended up at the teachers institute it was no bad thing! It actually spurred me on. London has so much opportunity and I was very pleased how you say...chuffed to bits that I had made the decision to come here. The weather is much worse than in South America, but apart from that there are many babes and cool things to do. I have a feeling I will be staying for some time in this place of great cultural heritage they call The Big Smoke!
4) The Olympics are coming! I am sure that by the time the Olympics arrive I will have many more friends, some of them teachers, and we will all have a very fun time going to watch all the runners and athletes do their thing. Could there be a better time to arrive in the UK? I do not think so, I do not think so!
